What Makes You Different?
Many photographers today operate on a point-and-shoot, volume-based model, but that’s not what we’re about.
Every photograph we create is personalised to your family, reflecting who you are and who you are to each other.
From the moment you book, your experience is considered and personal. Every family who walks through our doors receives our full creative attention; connected, intentional, and entirely bespoke.
Every portrait is a piece of individual family artwork created with the same dedication, artistry, and quality we bring to every session. What truly sets us apart is the care we put into every element of our craft.
What Goes Into Creating Our Finished Portraits?
Our photographers hold photographic honours degrees and industry accreditation and, are deeply experienced in working with families and children of all ages. Over the past 20 years, Colour White has photographed close to 8,000 families, from first-time parents with tiny babies to extended multi-generational families coming together to celebrate something special. This depth of training and experience allows us to capture natural expressions while maintaining beautiful styling, lighting, and composition.
Because we want your images to delight you for a lifetime, we make no compromise on quality.
Each image is carefully processed and retouched in-house to ensure the highest quality. Whether you choose digital images, fine art prints, or framed pieces, they are delivered to the same exacting standards. Prints are produced in our professional lab using archival-quality inks and fine art papers, and frames are handcrafted by Fine Art Guild certified technicians using premium mouldings, museum-grade mounts, and specialist glazing — ensuring artwork that lasts for generations.
What is a Colour White Photo Session Like?
When you arrive for your session, we begin with a conversation about your family and what you’re hoping to create. Some families love to direct; others prefer to place themselves entirely in our hands.
We gently guide every session, carefully crafting a range of poses, groupings, and lighting styles to ensure you receive a beautifully varied gallery. We adapt to each person, ensuring that even the shyest child or most nervous adult feels at ease in front of the camera. For children, we use silly interactions, playful prompts, and gentle encouragement to capture authentic laughter while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable. Our role is to notice the small in-between moments; glances, gestures, and closeness, as well as to create timeless, composed portraits you will treasure for decades.
What are your opening hours?
Our usual studio hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 9:30am – 5:00pm.
How Far in Advance Should We Book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly if you are hoping for a Saturday appointment, as these often book up several months in advance.
How much does a Studio Session cost?
A Studio Session is £50.
This includes your family’s bespoke portrait experience with one of our award-winning photographers and a personalised Viewing Appointment to enjoy your curated gallery of images.
The session fee covers the creative time and expertise of your photographer. Artwork is purchased separately, allowing you to invest in exactly what you love.
How long does the Studio Session last?
We allow up to one hour in the studio, which is perfect for capturing a variety of family combinations and individual portraits. We work at your family’s pace, (particularly with little ones), keeping things relaxed, efficient, and enjoyable so that expressions remain natural and genuine.
What should we wear?
We recommend choosing plainer clothing in natural or muted colours, without busy patterns or large logos. We find that clashing bright colours, bold patterns, or printed images on clothing are very distracting when you look at the final portraits, and we want the focus to be on you.
Do you supply props?
Our style is intentionally classic and uncluttered, so we do not provide generic studio props.
However, if your child has a beloved teddy, blanket, or meaningful heirloom, we are always happy to incorporate it into a few portraits. These personal touches often become the most sentimental pieces.
Is there a maximum number of people?
We welcome up to 10 people per session, which allows us to give everyone the space and time needed for beautifully composed portraits. This limit ensures we can capture both individual and group moments with the attention they deserve.
Do you photograph pets?
We welcome pets as part of family shoots.
We schedule pet-inclusive sessions at the end of the day to allow for additional cleaning. Please let us know at the time of booking so we can reserve the most suitable appointment for you.
I have young children, is there anything else I should consider?
We specialise in working with children of all ages, including babies and toddlers, and we understand that little ones have their own pace, moods, and needs. To help your session go smoothly, try to plan around naps and feeding schedules so children are well-rested and comfortable.
When we photograph babies as part of a family shoot we start from when they’re 6 months old, as then they will be smiling, sitting up by themselves, and able to engage in the process. We are very happy to arrange your session further in advance to allow for this.
What should I expect at my Viewing?
Your Viewing Appointment is where your portraits truly come to life.
A couple of weeks after your session, you’ll return to the studio to see your carefully curated gallery for the first time. We present your images in a relaxed, private setting and guide you through choosing your favourites using our specialist software.
You’ll be able to explore all of our products in person; seeing and feeling the quality for yourself, and learning about the range of specific bespoke choices.
There is no hard-sell, simply thoughtful guidance so you can confidently invest in the pieces you love most.
Can I preview my images online?
We believe your portraits deserve to be experienced properly.
The experience of choosing artwork cannot be replicated online. Online viewings cannot show your photographs with their true detail, colour, or scale, or allow you to explore the full range of bespoke frames, finishes, and display options.
At your in-person Viewing Appointment, you’ll see your images as they are meant to be seen, explore every product option, and receive guidance to create a collection that perfectly suits your family and your home.
What products do you offer?
We offer a carefully curated range of bespoke artwork, including:
Individual framed portraits, frame collections, frameless displays, print collections, and digital image collections.
Every piece is made to order for your family. We will guide you through each option at your Viewing appointment so you can experience the craftsmanship first-hand and select the pieces that feel perfect for your home.
How much is the investment?
As a guide, individual framed images start at £95 and go up in price to £995 for our largest feature portrait. We also offer framed collections and digital collections, which start from £585 and £575 respectively.
Your order will be created especially for your family, with a selection of beautiful bespoke options to choose from. Your final investment depends on your preferred sizes, finishes, and combinations.
We will guide you through every option in detail at your Viewing where you can experience the products first-hand and see the differences between each carefully crafted option.
Will I need to return to collect my artwork?
Yes, artwork is collected from the studio once it is complete so you can receive it in-person, ensuring every detail is perfect.
If you choose a digital collection, your images can either be provided on a USB or delivered via a secure, high-quality download, preserving every detail in high resolution without compression.
What is the turnaround time?
Our typical turnaround is four to six weeks, allowing us to maintain our high standards of retouching, printing, and framing.
Do you offer gift packs or vouchers?

Our gift packs include a £50 voucher covering the Studio Session and Viewing Appointment. Additional £25 vouchers can be added at your discretion.
